This Conditions of Carriage document forms Section 04 of the KiwiRail Freight Handling Code and should be read alongside the other sections of that Code. Conditions of Carriage
It is essential that customers understand and adhere to the terms set out in this document.
KiwiRail provides rail freight and Interislander commercial vehicle freight services across New Zealand. These Conditions of Carriage govern the contractual relationship between KiwiRail and its customers, setting out the rights and obligations of both parties to ensure freight is carried safely, efficiently and in compliance with New Zealand law.
What it covers
These Conditions apply to all freight services provided by KiwiRail and Interislander. They cover key matters including:
- rates and charges,
- booking and acceptance procedures,
- liability,
- special freight requirements, and
- the carriage of commercial vehicles and animals by ship.
