Rail freight customers avoided almost 144,000 tonnes of carbon in FY26 through their freight movements, according to KiwiRail’s first standalone Sustainability Report.
The result reflects what KiwiRail and its customers can achieve together. By choosing rail, businesses can reduce transport emissions across their supply chains.
Another report highlight is the first-time achievement of Toitū Envirocare Carbon Compatible Reporting status for Steel Wheels, KiwiRail’s customer emissions reporting.
The independent verification gives customers greater confidence in the emissions information they receive from KiwiRail and use for reporting and decision-making. It can also help customers respond to increasing sustainability reporting expectations in domestic and export markets.
