If your freight is damaged in transit, we may consider a claim for damage.
First Contact
If your freight is damaged in transit while under the care of KiwiRail, we may, subject to the terms and conditions of carriage, consider a claim for damage.
Call the KiwiRail Service Centre on 0800 351 351 or contact your Key Account Executive to report the damage.
Claim Deadlines
Written notice of any claim against KiwiRail must be received within 30 days after the delivery date or collection date as applicable.
In the case of reefer(refrigerated or temperature-controlled) freight, the notice must be received within 7 days.
Submit Claim
- Complete the Claim Application Form (147 KB, Pdf)
- Include your consignment note number and relevant supporting documents (e.g., proof of value)
- Send completed forms to:
